Seed week at Bversity was honestly one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had so far in this program. After so many months of only seeing my batchmates online, finally meeting them in person on the very first day felt exciting and refreshing. There was an instant sense of connection, and it reminded me of how valuable real, face-to-face conversations can be. We also got the chance to meet some of our seniors, and their guidance and stories helped us feel both welcomed and inspired.

One of the biggest highlights for me was networking. We got opportunities to interact and learn from industry experts, company CEOs and founders. Unlike traditional universities, Bversity offered an extraordinary platform to learn, connect, and grow in ways that felt very different from regular classrooms. Seed Week was a perfect example of this. It wasn’t just about lectures or notes—it was about real conversations, hands-on experiences, and moments that made me think differently about my journey in bioinformatics and beyond.

“Unlike traditional universities, Bversity offered an extraordinary platform to learn, connect, and grow beyond regular classrooms.”

Impactful sessions with Raghul and Sudharsan had helped us to encounter problems differently. Instead of looking at challenges as something that holds us back, they encouraged us to view them as opportunities to be creative. They spoke about business models, sustainable solutions, and frameworks like the Golden Circle. These lessons went beyond entrepreneurship and made me think about how I manage my own habits and goals.

There were also several sessions from industry experts that expanded my perspective. I particularly enjoyed the talk by Inavamsi Enaganti, who encouraged us to collaborate with like-minded people and keep problem-solving simple yet effective. On the technical side, the session by Vyomesh Javle was a standout. He introduced us to whole genome sequencing and tools like InterPro, Promoter 2.0, and Softberry. He also gave us insights into career opportunities in genomics and bioinformatics, which was exciting for me since it aligned so well with my own interests.

The hackathon led by Vaibhav Sai was another highlight of the Seed Week. My group worked on DNA data storage, a topic that was completely new to me. It was both challenging and exciting to think of DNA beyond its biological role and imagine it as a medium for storing information. The hackathon wasn’t just about learning new tools or techniques—it was also about teamwork, quick thinking, and pushing boundaries.

Seed Week also focused on our personal and professional growth, which I found equally important. Aparna P’s session on CV building, interview, and soft skills was very practical and made me reflect on how I present myself to the world. Similarly, listening to Manoharan Malini share her personal journey was truly inspiring, especially for women in the field. She reminded us that pursuing our dreams with determination is always worth it, no matter the obstacles.

“Seed Week wasn’t just about academics, it was a turning point that shaped us into more confident, creative, and thoughtful individuals.”

The week wrapped up with a roundtable discussion where we interacted with biotech leaders and startup founders like Dr. Anjali Kulkarni, Manoharan Malini, Madhava Shyam, Ganesh Muthu, Shiva Shankar Nanda, and Rimjhim Agarwal. It gave me a clearer picture of the biotech landscape and the opportunities waiting for us in the area.

Looking back, Seed Week was so much more than just a schedule of sessions. It was a journey filled with learning, inspiration, and personal growth. I feel grateful to Bversity for creating this experience. It wasn’t just about academics or career preparation—it was about shaping us into more confident, creative, and thoughtful individuals. For me, Seed Week wasn’t just a week of classes, it was a turning point, and definitely one of my favourite parts of this program so far.
